Standard of Care
Mrs. Kunnari’s son was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (a form of dangerous brain cancer) at the age of two and a half and underwent the standard treatments of radiation and chemotherapy. However, the conventional approach failed in controlling his tumor.
The disease was deadly, he was given a bad prognosis. The family was not happy with the outcomes and decided to try different therapies. For the Kunnari family, the search for alternative treatments was a move they made because they wanted to save his life.
“He was a happy, healthy four-year-old who has outlived his prognosis. There was no traditional treatment has kept him alive with such a good quality of life.”
— Mrs. Kunnari
PBA Treatment
In search of an alternative, the Kunnaris consulted an oncologist who uses antineoplastons (sodium phenylbutyrate and derivatives), a non-conventional, non-toxic anti-cancer therapy. Mrs Kunnari’s son went through six weeks of this treatment and went into remission.
This alternative was gentle and did not produce the severe side effects typically associated with chemotherapy. Following the sodium phenylbutyrate (PBA) treatment, the boy was in remission, significantly improving his quality of life and marking the treatment as a success.
At 26, the Kunnari’s son shared his story, looking back and realizing that his experience with childhood cancer wasn’t as difficult as normally expected. He praised innovative cancer treatments, emphasizing that they deserve more recognition and wider exposure to reach those who could benefit from them.
“As a little boy, I wondered, ‘Why am I fine and they’re not?’ I had cancer, and honestly, both as a child and now as a grown man, my experience with cancer wasn’t that bad.”
— Dustin, young man in medulloblastoma remission
